Maya Eventov, a renowned artist in the world of Fine Art in Cherry Creek, grew up in Leningrad, formerly known as St. Petersburg, in the former USSR. From a young age, her parents introduced her to the city's magnificent artistic treasures, spending countless hours together in museums, immersing themselves in the works of the great masters. In 1987, after completing her Masters's Degree in Graphic Design, Eventov embarked on a career as an illustrator for children's books. Taking advantage of the fall of the Iron Curtain, she embarked on extensive travels and eventually immigrated to Canada in the early 1990s. Today, Eventov and her family reside just outside of Toronto, Ontario.
Eventov's captivating paintings, showcased in the realm of Fine Art in Cherry Creek, are characterized by her unique technique of applying acrylic paint with a variety of palette knives. Utilizing a selection of different-sized knives, she achieves a thick application of paint, using both blended and pure colors. By employing smaller knives, Eventov skillfully creates depth and intricate detailing in her artwork. To further enhance the visual impact, she applies a series of varnishes specifically designed to emulate the appearance of wet paint. Executed with a special palette knife, her paintings imitate a mosaic-like technique. The smaller, more regular strokes come together to bring the artwork to life, captivating viewers as their eyes react to the subtle shifts in color and tone.

I work making sculptures (bronze and resin) and paintings (oil), to explore and express insights about life. Inspiration comes from exploring both an inner landscape and traveling through a variety of geographical and cultural landscapes around the world. I have been constantly amazed by the flow of human history that took place for each of us to be alive today. I generally express this appreciation in symbols. For example, the abstract, long-legged, bronze figures represent the journey of thousands of years that came before each of us who exist today. In paintings, I often use words with color to depict the dynamics of psychological situations.
I understand that if one great,
great grandmother had made a different choice, her small decision might negate my living in this place and time. I tried measuring the distance between Pinocchio and Mars, bird feathers and Tokyo, Auschwitz, and love and decided to make my marks of suffering and contentment into art. Through my work, I seek to blend the realms of Fine Art in Cherry Creek.

While practicing his drums in his Fine Art studio in Cherry Creek, David Hurwitz needed to know the time and realized there was no clock. Looking at the vintage snare drum on the floor, Dave thought of creating a clock with the drum. Dave now creates clocks from vintage drums and guitars in his Fine Art studio in Cherry Creek and recently added lamps and accent furniture. He rescues instruments in need of repair, or even beyond repair, giving new life to an otherwise unplayable instrument. The clocks are vintage wall and desk clocks with new precision battery movements. Each of David Hurwitz’ Fine Art works in Cherry Creek is handcrafted and truly one-of-a-kind.

Cecil K. was born in Uzbekistan in 1963. His family was of Turkish descent, so growing up he spoke Turkish and Uzbek. His first artistic experience was in sixth grade sketching a horse. From that day on, sketching with a pencil was one of his favorite hobbies. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1982 and painted often at this time. In 1989, he and his wife and family moved to Krasnodar, Russia, where he enjoyed a simpler life working at farms and orchards. His painting lay dormant until he moved to Antalya, Turkey, in 1998, where he worked with a partner creating advertising for local companies. The creativity of advertising unearthed his love of painting, and for the following eight years, Cecil would move back and forth between Turkey and Russia, painting as often as he could.
In April 2005, political problems in Russia forced him to emigrate to the United States under refugee status, where the family made their way to Atlanta, Georgia. Cecil went through a difficult time of emotional conflict upon arriving in the U.S., so he found himself painting more often and with a greater depth than ever before. He is now quite prolific with his paintings widely displayed, including at Fine Art in Cherry Creek. He paints using acrylics, and his vibrant use of color is his signature look.

Peter Kuttner was born and raised near Boston, Massachusetts, and on the rugged coast of Maine. He earned his BFA from Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, and experienced a successful career as an illustrator. Peter later relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, and bravely embarked on a career as an artist. His time living near the beach influenced his subtle palette of cool blues and greens, warm golds, and rich reds, hues that are complicated by the atmospheric clarity he finds in the arid southwest. Kuttner approaches each canvas with a keen technical acuity while simultaneously yielding to the spontaneous development of the work. His attention to detail is a primary concern. He hand-finishes each canvas, resolving every painting to a very particular level of complexity.
Kuttner’s sophisticated understanding of dimensionality cuts across his entire body of work, creating a coherent and seamless aesthetic. He exploits the painted plane as a structure of opportunity for depth by layering textures, colors, and finishes. Fine Art in Cherry Creek Kuttner’s portfolio includes several genres of paintings: cityscapes, still life/florals, minimal abstractions, figures, and transitional. The impressionistic treatment of the canvas, combined with the text fragments asks us to remember a time when we wandered the city or recorded our memories of walking a deserted street in the rain.

I enjoy creating tension, using materials in their raw form as a catalyst to create both positive and negative spaces. With complete respect for the metal, I naturally build layers, problem solving both weight and weightlessness through contrasting elements and movement in my work.

Everything has a natural flow to it - an organization. Sometimes you can't see it right away, you have to get close. Or sometimes distance yourself. I think my work is like that. When I begin painting on any certain piece, I am influenced by everything. The weather or the contrast of the hills against the sky sets the mood for any work I'll begin that day.
